Now that you have the bathroom vanity of your dreams, it’s time to make the most of it. Like the saying goes, it’s what’s on the inside that counts! Getting organized behind cabinet doors is just as essential as outward appearances, leaving an immaculate and elegant impression both inside and out. Here are three ways to organize your bathroom vanity.
1. Clean Out The Clutter
Throw away anything that you have not used in the past year, or anything that is expired. When in doubt, look for the small number and “M” on the bottom or back of a label. It’s called a period-after-opening symbol, which tells how many months of life a cosmetic product is good for. Stick to it or put your nose to the test. To help you get the big picture, pull everything out — even the items you are keeping — to see how much you really have. There is no need for ten different types of body lotions or hair sprays. If you don’t need it or use it, then lose it!
2. Keep It Together
Arrange items grouped together by category, and keep them together in one section. It will make it easier to find what you need, and it will also keep you aware of what you have on hand. Baskets, bins, and jars are useful tools for neatly storing bathroom necessities. Categories may include:
- Appliances (blow dryer, straightener, curling iron)
- Hair accessories (hair ties, clips, bobby pins)
- Makeup and tools (brushes, sponges)
- Nail accessories (nail clippers, nail polish, nail file)
- Dental items (floss, toothpaste, mouthwash)
- Feminine products (panty liners, tampons)
- Hygiene items (cotton balls, Q-tips, razors, shaving cream, antiperspirant)
- First Aid needs (bandages, tweezers, healing ointment)
- Skincare needs (bars of soap, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer)
- Toilet paper
3. Give It A Home
It’s important that each item has a specific place to get neatly tucked away in a drawer or container behind cabinet doors. This one rule will help you eliminate clutter while reminding you of your inventory. Of course, there are a few exceptions to the rule (such as that beautiful glass perfume bottle or handmade pottery soap dispenser that you wish to leave on display). Remember, having more space on the counter will give you more room to use the for your everyday routines. With that said, a tidy space is always aesthetically pleasing, and could even make your room feel twice as large.
The longer you wait to organize your bathroom vanity, the more tedious and trying this task will be. Your bathroom should be a sanctuary. Treat yourself to a pristine and peaceful bathroom today for a more organized tomorrow.
